Word Vice’s Privacy Policy

Word Vice is designed to be private by default. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours for the app to talk to. Playing the game works with the network turned off, because playing never uses it. The single exception is buying or restoring the R-Rated unlock, which talks to Apple, and only to Apple.

What Word Vice collects

Nothing. Word Vice does not collect personal data, does not create user accounts, and does not sell or share data. That is still true if you buy the R-Rated unlock; see Purchases below for what happens instead.

What stays on your device

Word Vice stores your scores, round history, callsign, settings, and whether you own the R-Rated unlock using standard local iOS app storage. This never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Purchases

Word Vice is free, and the PG-13 game is complete and permanent. One optional purchase unlocks the R-Rated word list. It is offered at three prices that unlock exactly the same words, so that you can decide what it is worth; the choice of price is the only difference between them.

Apple handles the entire transaction. Payment happens inside Apple’s own purchase sheet. Word Vice never sees, receives, or stores your card number, billing address, Apple Account, or any other payment detail, and there is nowhere for us to put one even if we wanted to. The app has no server and no database.

What the app does is ask Apple whether this Apple Account owns the unlock, and remember the answer on your device. “Restore Purchases” asks Apple the same question again, which is how the unlock follows you to a new phone. Those requests go to Apple, not to us, and carry no information about how you play.

We receive only the aggregated sales and payout reports Apple gives every developer. Those reports say how many copies of each unlock sold in a country on a day. They do not identify who bought anything, and we have no way to connect a purchase to a person or to a device.

Apple

Apple collects purchase and download information under Apple’s privacy policy, independently of Word Vice, and that applies to the R-Rated unlock as much as to the free download. If you opted in to sharing diagnostics with developers in iOS, Apple may show us anonymous, aggregated crash data.

Beta testing

TestFlight builds include an optional practice mode that records swipe coordinates and letters so the word-selection engine can be tuned. Nothing is sent anywhere unless a tester deliberately exports and shares the file. This mode is not in the App Store version.

Children

Word Vice contains crude language by design and is rated for adults. It is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
